Leukotriene Antagonist
The reason behind this project is due to the shear fact that this research is not easily available, if you take medicinal applications of mushrooms for example;
My 2yo son was just recently prescribed Montelukast to help in combatting snoring and inflammation of his airways, i’m not a scientist but from looking into the medication it aids is reducing the production of cell compounds called Leukotrienes, ok that’s fine, like any parent we read possible side effects so we know what to look for, The list of potential side effects for this medication are unbelievable, even the common ones are not something i would like a 2yo to experience, let alone the ‘incidence not known’ ones.
This led me to look into mushrooms for possible interaction with Leukotrienes, They’ve helped replace my medications, so why not this too.
turns out there are several studies into Ganoderma (Reishi) and A. Blazei (Gods Mushroom) which have shown interaction with Leukotrienes as a receptor antagonist, without the unwanted side effects, so this is what i chose to put my son on, Im aware of these mushrooms, there nutrient value along with there medicinal value so this was a win for me.
Don’t get me wrong i understand the research is limited and it may not work in correcting the production of Leukotrienes but on the flip side it might be just what he needs, so far I have noticed improvement in his overall Immunity, His sleeping, His breathing and his overall health without any negative impacts.
Always do your own research and always ask questions, hopefully one day the MYECO database will be your one stop for all of this information.
Thank you all and have a blessed day <3
